Curriculum choices

2017 Choices
  *For my 4th &6th grader
     Sonlight Core F Eastern Hemisphere. I thought this would be appropriate since we are living in South            Korea this year ;)
    Math: Teaching Textbooks, Khan Academy
    English: Rod and Staff
    Science: Apologia Anatomy








*For my Pre-K and 1st grader we are using Abeka Streaming all subjects.


2015 for my 3rd and 5th Grader

• My Father's World Exploration-1850. This will cover Bible, History, Science, Art, Music. We will be adding on the 2nd-3rd grade supplement for my 3rd grader.
• Language Arts we will be using MFW recommended resources for all but spelling. My 3rd grader will be using Language Lessons for Today for 3rd grad, and Modern Style Cursive connections along with All About Spelling. She will also be using the suggestions from the back of the teachers guide for readers. My 5th grader will be using Intermediate Language Lessons this year along with Writing Strands level 3. He is also continuing All About Spelling and readers from the back of the teachers manual. 
• Teaching Textbooks are what both older kids are using for math. My oldest really wants to go back to using Life of Fred so I told him once he is ready for Fractions we can try doing it. I love Fred books. Truthfully if you like math and love a good story these books are just fun! SWB even recommends using them for fun math on Friday's in The Well Trained Mind

 


Kindergarten Plans

• This year I am doing something totally different than in the past. I love literature based programs but I feel like I do so much reading all day long. This year I decided to use Abeka streaming 5K program with my little princess. She is a social butterfly so I think seeing a class will also be enticing for her and she has also been asking for a teacher. For this child I think this will be a nice fit. We will see how it goes down the line, but my main reason for switching is distractions. I am constantly being distracted by little ones needing help or big ones needing help and I think she will be able to learn with less of these distractions. So, instead of me being teacher mommy, I will be cheerleader mommy and help when she needs it. I like this idea and have seen other big families use Abeka online successfully so, fingerscrossed.
